NIS Sparta’s interventions for the Indian Police Forces

Driven by energy and enterprise, NIS Sparta has been involved in the capacity building of the Indian Police Forces, for over nine years. We are committed to the journey of partnering various police forces in India.

NIS Sparta’s first foray was an attitudinal transformational exercise for Delhi Police at their Police Training College at Jharoda Kalan. Presently, the company has received letter of intents (LOI) from Maharashtra Police for training 4,500 of their police persons on a behavioural change programme on sensitisation to the pandemic HIV/ AIDS. While, Haryana Police has expressed interest for a similar pilot programme, for 500 policemen. UP Police has already agreed to train 5,000 persons in the Kanpur District.

The Top management of Uttaranchal Police and Gujarat Police has already given NIS Sparta a go-ahead to work with them in this area. CRPF and RPF have also given acceptance of working with NIS Sparta to train their personnel on this very critical and important subject. Going further, NIS Sparta has plans to cover all the police forces, including the Para-military forces in India.

A few interventions undertaken by NIS Sparta for the Police Forces/ Institutions are:

  Railway Protection Force

Railways Traffic Commercial Directorate started an initiative to train all the Railway frontline customer facing employees in a customised programme called ‘Customer Goodwill’ to enable Railways become a Customer Centric Organisation. This programme started in May 1999, under the aegis of IR Customer Care Institute in Delhi. Thereafter, in October 1999, the project scope was enlarged to cover all IR Zonal Training Institutes (Called ZTCs at that time).

In 2002, RPF cadres were included in the trainee profile and NIS Sparta created a special programme for them called, “Secure Well”. This programme successfully reached 4,343 RPF personnel between July 2002 and June 2004.

  Delhi Police

Work with Delhi Police began to bring about an attitudinal change in the trainee inductees at various levels in Delhi Police - the IPS, the DANIPS and the Class III employees. The result desired – Empathetic Policing.

NIS Sparta was a part of Delhi Police’s training calendar for training programmes on Leadership, Stress management, Team Building, Conflict Management, Presentation Skills, Excellence in Self & Work Life and Motivation, and more.

NIS Sparta conducted a number of Train-the-Trainer programmes for their faculty in Training skills and subject matter areas, as well. The methodology adopted was a blend of classroom training, group activities (both indoors and outdoors) and training films besides usage of a host of psychometric tools.

NIS Sparta and Delhi Police collaborated in an experiment to conduct mass training through the use of Technology/ Video Conferencing at their Delhi College in 2002. Delhi Police trained more than 500 officers and 800 constables in these interventions, between 1998 and 2003.

Encouraged by the company’s work in the behavioural change programmes, the Delhi Police along with UNDP, Delhi State AIDS Control Society (DSACS) and National Aids Control Organisation invited NIS Sparta to train their entire force on a special Behaviour-change programme on HIV/AIDS.

NIS Sparta successfully trained more than 11,000 police personnel in Delhi between July 2004 and October 2004, in a special programme called ‘Naya-Savera’. The programme was carried out in a blended form using technology and learning kits.

  Tamil Nadu Police

Tamil Nadu Police sought an image makeover, and they commissioned the training titled 'Policing with a Human Face' to NIS Sparta. Over 250 police personnel received the 2-Day intervention between 2002 and 2003. The programme was received very well and the media appreciated the effort.

  J&K Police

The J&K Police performs the tough and daunting task of arresting the spate of insurgency in the strife-torn state. In a difficult situation like this, balancing work with life and still remaining positive and healthy is an uphill task. The force management decided to infuse a positive attitude in the personnel through a customised programme on Attitudinal Transformation. Five-Day Programmes were held at Jammu, Srinagar and PTC, Udhampur to cover approximately 250 personnel between 2001 and 2002. The effort was highly applauded by the participants and the evaluators.
