APAC
NIS Sparta conducted an awareness-cum-training programme for AIDS awareness among retailers in Tamil Nadu. The programme reached out to 9,700 retailers, over the last 3 years. The programme met with immense success and resulted in a 61% increase in the number of retail outlets in Tamil Nadu stocking condoms.
NIS Sparta is undertaking similar projects for other State AIDS Control Societies. The company implemented the Naya Savera Project for Delhi State AIDS Control Society, funded by UNDP. Under the project, approximately 40,000 policemen were given orientation on HIV/ AIDS related issues. The sensitisation training was participatory in nature, which enabled the police force in acquiring skills of handling citizens, colleagues and deal with stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/ AIDS.
In continuation of the above, NIS Sparta is currently implementing Nav Prabhat project covering 40,000 to 60,000 police personnel in Gujarat state covering all the districts.
JANANI
NIS Sparta undertook a unique campaign to support Janani, an NGO dealing in large service delivery programmes in the social sector, to influence doctors to provide reproductive health services to women at nominal costs.
We created and developed a script for influencing doctors to upgrade to surya clinics. The company spearheaded this movement for converting the doctors as well as training Janani staff on convincing them to upgrade to surya networks.
NYKS
NIS Sparta assisted Nehru Yuvak Kendra Sangathan and WHO on a joint Anti Tobacco campaign, by creating IEC material for them.
We created the behaviour change communication strategy, developed bilingual (Hindi and English) IEC kit comprising Flipchart: “Masterji ke Seekh”, posters, street play and leaflets.
The kits were highly successful in creating the desired impact on the focus groups, providing them with inputs through effective depiction of consequences and impact on people associated with this habit.
UNDP
NIS Sparta conducted a Project Outreach for UNDP, for creating awareness on HIV/ AIDS through sensitisation, which leads to behavioural transformation using a peer-group model of students, who in turn will help spread awareness in their communities.
The aim of the project was to educate students of NIIT, who in turn would create an awareness platform for further outreach. The project was focused on enabling action through one-to-one communication and education on HIV/ AIDS that created a resource pool of peer educators, as well as a centre equipped with technical information and trained consultants.
The UNDP-NIS Sparta-NIIT pilot initiative evolved into an effective AIDS awareness model providing an opportunity to reach out to the most vulnerable, inhibited and valuable sections of our society.
The project covered the Delhi state with 36 centres and 20,000 students.
UNDP
NIS Sparta conducted Police Sensitisation Trainings under the UNDP Trafficking and HIV/ AIDS (TAHA) project, which covered five states namely, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal.
In each of the state, around 7,000 policemen were covered and sensitised on HIV/ AIDS and trafficking related issues and laws.
Tremendous participation was observed from the policemen during the sensitisation trainings.
Atithi Devo Bhav Programme

This is in support of Ministry of Tourism’s initiative, Incredible India and Atithi Devo Bhav Campaign.
