NIS Academy and DGR to train retired personnel
NIS Academy, the professional educational initiative of NIS Sparta, entered into an association with Directorate General of Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India to launch a Certificate Course in Retail Management for retiring personnel from the three forces. NIS Academy launched the first batch of the course for PBOR's (Personnel below the Officers rank) on 1st December, starting with New Delhi. This will soon be taken to other cities. The objective of the course is to build the capability and competencies of these personnel and ready them to take on profiles as a Supervisor in functional areas such as Operations, SCM, Logistics, Administration, IT, Loss Prevention and other areas in a Retail Organization.

NIS LIVE kicks off Fifth batch of PGCBM with XIMB
NIS L.I.V.E. in collaboration with Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar (XIMB) began its 5th batch of Post Graduate Certificate in Business Management (PGCBM). The course is open to all working professionals and can be pursued from The NIS Academy centres across the country through Video Conferencing technology.
So far over 500 working professionals from key industries such as Power; Banking, Financial Services and Insurance; and IT have benefited from the program. The launch of the 5th batch of PGCBM reflects the growing interest among working professionals to enhance their careers.
NIS Academy expands presence to Karnataka, opens first centre in Bengaluru
Recently, The NIS Academy launched its 1st centre in South India at Mekhri Circle, Bengaluru. The launch marks a stepping stone in The NIS Academy’s aggressive expansion plans for the southern region. The NIS Academy centre was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri Ashok Kumar Manoli IAS, Principal Secretary to Govt of Karnataka, Dept of IT/Bio Tech. in the presence of Guest of Honour: Shri G. NIS Sparta’s regional offices Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata simultaneously celebrated the Reward & Recognition ceremony, RECO 2008. NIS Sparta’s achievers pan-India were awarded in categories such as Appreciation Letter, On-the-spot Award, Star Trainer Award, Excellence Club, Star Business Person of the year Award, Team Achievement Award, Tenure Awards and more. There was excitement and thrill as the citation of each achiever was being red out. Everyone had a blast.
Program for leading cement manufacturer
NIS Sparta conducted a two day workshop on for a leading cement manufacturer’s dealers in Karnal. The program was very successful.
In a mail, the client appreciated the way the program was delivered and also mentioned that the trainer’s energy throughout the span of 2-days was excellent. The overall feedback was: the program was easy to understand as the entire process was done in Hindi for the cement dealers; the concepts were really helpful to the participants.

The NIS Academy and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGS I.P. University) signed a MoU, to launch a three-month Certificate Course in Retail. The MoU was signed by Prof. R.K. Mittal, Dean, GGS I.P University and Mr.Manoj Chawla, in the presence of Prof. K.K Aggwaral, Vice Chancellor of the GGS I.P University.
The Certificate Course in Retail is targeted at graduates and working professionals. The first batch will be launched around 26 July 2008. The 3 month short term, Certificate course in retail, will be offered as a weekend course.

NIS Sparta and US Based, CCi Surveys International, have entered into a strategic partnership to launch CCi’s 360° assessments in India. CCi Survey’s International, founded in 1976, were the pioneers of performance-based 360-degree survey, the Leadership Development Profile. Today, the company markets more than 100 different 360° assessments to clients around the world. The company’s underlying belief is that as the individual improves and becomes more effective, so does the organization.

NIS Sparta undertakes debt recovery agents training
In yet another endeavor to help enhance services of the country’s banking system, Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) have accredited NIS Sparta (a Reliance ADA group company) to conduct 100 hours of mandatory training of Debt Recovery Agents at Metros in India.
As per IIBF notification, it is estimated that over 2 lakh debt recovery agents will need to be trained by various banks and their agencies to ensure that they do not violate guidelines that have been laid down. NIS Sparta has taken a lead in the area by launching the first Debt Training agents’ 100 hours training batch at Kolkata. The company is set to begin training in other key cities such as Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai.
Boot camp for CrossKnowledge
A three day Boot camp on CrossKnowledge was organized from 15th-17th May 2008, in Mumbai to introduce CrossKnowledge’s expertise and bouquet programs to NIS Sparta’s trainers and business teams. The highlights of the meet were the experiences shared by the top team from CrossKnowledge comprising of Herve Goudcaux, Gael Bargot and Frederick Fouquet.
The three day workshop took participants through case studies, product information and a number of highly interactive sessions; the participants came back with a new found energy and a great experience in terms of learning and knowledge.

In another first at The NIS Academy, the first ever National Business Partners meet - Shikhar 2008 was organized in Mussorie. Held on the 6th and 7th May 2008, the objective of the meet was to align and reinforce Mission 2009 among all Business Partners of The NIS Academy. The meet started with celebrating the past year’s achievements and best practices, followed by the strategies to achieve the goals for FY 2008 -09.
Every participant was charged-up and geared to take up new challenges...scale new heights. It was a memorable event for one and all.

The NIS Academy creating employability for rural youth
In a noteworthy development, The NIS Academy has tied up with SUDA (State Urban Development Agency) under the KUSP (Kolkata Urban Service for the Poor) program to train and place 100 unemployed youth from marginalized sections of three municipalities - Madhyamgram, Barrackpore and Kamarhati into retail sector.
The pilot initiative is a first of sorts for The NIS Academy, and the training has been launched in the three municipalities. The youth have been selected in consultation with the municipalities from amongst 2500 approx. applications. Great Going Team!

The NIS Academy, Delhi organized a Retail Educational Tour for visiting faculty from other centres to RPG Spencer’s Hyper Market in Gurgaon. The faculties were in Delhi for the Retail FFT, on the 26th Jan 2008. The visit was successful and immensely beneficial to the faculty members. Gujarat State AIDS Control Society has extended its contract with NIS Sparta to train 45,000 policemen in Gujarat starting May ‘07 to end July‘07, covering 25 districts.
